Three of my favorite dresses, on one of my favorite girls, in my new fave get away.
I've been here before, but it never felt this good. I always go in Spring when the beach isn't quite ripe for tanning and the walks get a bit too breezy for my desert ready skin.
But this time Santa Barbara, something was a bit different in the air, (not with the weather, just the air, lol), and you stole my heart.
This new little arts district is blossoming just east of the State Street area. A server at a restaurant spun a tale to me I hope is true. She said it all started with one business babe who decided to quit her big corporate job and rehab an old fish house property. This boss babe has now opened at least four eateries, with zero restaurant experience under her belt btw, all with different concepts on this one little plot. These restaurants are rad. The one we ate at was "The Lark," it was so delish, inspirational and original. Every detail was there, it captured my curated boutique lovin' heart. Another one is a little out-building she tiled the entire outside with pennies and decided to sling pizza out of, naming it the Lucky Penny. Look it up. It's all on and around Anacapa street.
All around there are these boutique bars and restaurants, little art spots, and some amazing walls we had to snap in front of. One of our pics got hi-jacked by a local drinking a Medelo on the street with his campadres. The whole experience down there is playful and light. Every face was a people watching smorgasbord.
Lastly I have to mention we visited some Missions. All the mission architecture that line the historic little streets because of the influence of Spanish in the area make this town a fairytale place to dwell it seems. The streets are clean and the timing is always right to take a walk. Well played Santa Barbara.
